Library Mobile @ ACC

Using a program developed by google labs, I was able to quickly draft a mobile website for the Library. The draft includes
  • Locations & Hours
  • Ask a Librarian
  • Mobile Resources - EbscoHost, Pubmed, MedlinePlus, WorldCat Mobile.
We'll need to test and determine what other pages might work here. Since this wasn't a goal for the year, we shouldn't spend too much time on this.

The url for mobile phones is http://library.austincc.edu/m

Opac changes

Made changes to the BIBIMAGE and FRAMEURL wwwoptions to allow Content Cafe book cover info to open in a new window/tab.
  • The BIBIMAGE option now generates a [Close] button so that the user can return to the bib record or the browse list.
  • The change in FRAMEURL affects the log on screen for E-Reserves in that there is no apparent way to return to the catalog. The browser back button should work in most cases.
Included WorldCat linking for the WEBADDRESS wwwoption and repurposed the z39 search button to link to WorldCat. The button is labeled "Other Libraries." The button appears on the button navigation row on the bib record. The code is set to retrieve catalog information for Austin area libraries.

Progress on Info Lit and Know How pages

I've finished the draft site and sent the pages to the Web Committee and Red and Barbara for review. See email message below:

Until the new portal page gets done ...
I've finished the conversion but haven't changed the links on the library website yet. You can reach the new pages at
http://library.austincc.edu/help/infoLit/

Essentially, I've moved everything to the /help/ folder. I'll make a schematic so that if you want to edit a page, you can find it now. After your review, I'll archive these folders in the /gen-info/ folder. Please send comments and corrections to me.

Note: Be sure that, when editing, you use the actual file from the server folder and do not download a file from your browser. This will help retain the includes code that is in the file. If for no other reason, it will help deactivate the Chat Live link during intersessions on all of these pages.
